Fire Prevention Week

October 8th-14th is Fire Prevention Week. It is reminder to how easily fires can start but how we can also prevent them. Remember to be safe and smart. The NFPA has information on fire hazards and other ways to make extra precautions. Take a moment to refresh your memory so you stay safe this winter. Wood stoves are high hazard when not cleaned properly. Spread the word and help others also be prepared.

National Taco Day!

Soft shell, hard shell, or even in a salad. Today is the day to enjoy a taco! National Taco Day is here and its time to eat up. Make your own or find an authentic restaurant to meet your taco needs! The tacos origin is not confirmed but is believed to start by miners in Mexico. Hats off to them for making something so delicious. Enjoy!

National Coffee Day

About 83% of Americans drink coffee. On average 587 million cups of coffee are consumed in the US each year. Coffee is fuel for some and even a sweet treat for others. National Coffee Day is no exception. Now you have an excuse to drink an extra cup or two. You might want to make it decaf though. Drink up!

August 24th is National Waffle Day! Commonly sweet and sometimes savory waffles are a fluffy yet crispy delight for everyone. Stacked high with fruits and nuts, or given a southern twist with fried chicken. The original waffles date back to the 17th century. Go visit you closest waffle house and dig in!

Today is a day for the daredevils and adrenaline junkies out there. It’s National Roller Coaster Day! Most of us have been on a roller coaster in our lives. Big or small. Fast or slow. Roller coasters are a way to fight your fears and have a wild time. Fun Fact: The tallest roller coaster currently is the Kingda Ka at 456 ft. tall!

A great time of year to go camping so it would make sense that we would have National S’mores Day too! A sweet treat commonly made on camping trips. The Original Recipe for S’mores was in a Girls Scout book back in 1927. Now we make s’mores flavors for everything! What amazing food combination will we think of next?

Assistance Dog Day

Always loving and by your side when you need them. If you see any Assistance Dogs you wish to thank with a pat or treat please ask their owner if so before hand. Keeping their owner safe is the main goal and we don’t want to distract them.

National Milk Chocolate Day

Did you know? Every Second, Americans collectively eat 100 pounds of chocolate! Imagine how much is eaten today. Don’t eat too much though. It takes just about a year for a standard cocoa tree to produce enough pods to make 10 standard chocolate bars. There’s some food for thought!
